Yuletide was so good to me, in multiple ways--I was assigned Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo to write and I was given it as giftfic, too. And I really wanted to write Count/Albert in this fandom and with my recipient's request I was able to write just what I wanted as well, so, I was happy even before I got my own giftfic. Which turned out to be more Gankutsuou of the sort I wanted to read--one of those "subtext made text from beginning to end" pieces--but couldn't quite write myself. So much thanks to hpstrangelove! And a lovely bonus mood ficlet of the same characters, too, from mithrigil!
I'd also asked for and volunteered to write Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) and did end up writing a ficlet for someone's request, plus there was a Sebastian/Ciel piece (Lucid Dreaming) written that exactly met my own desires in characters, style, and delicious perversity.

You have some pronouncement you wish to make, before I send you to the same beyond as your bearded leader and your boy hero? Say it. I am curious."
"As am I." It did not hold enough bitterness to be a snarl. "I would like to know if you ever felt a shred of fondness for any creature in your life. Even for that snake you call pet," Severus spat. "I would like to know if there is any part of you that was ever human, Riddle."

nimori is to blame for this one; I asked her for a Harry/Lucius plotbunny because I was in the mood to write 'em, and she gave me a plotbunny that hit my, "No no no no no no no" buttons. Not because of the non-con smut, mind you--it's the whole "injustice" theme that makes me run screaming. So having rejected the idea, that night I had a dream where Harry showed up who was clearly the Harry who had survived this story, and he was pissed. I woke up and decided my subconscious was telling me it had to be written. 'S all her fault.

I haven't had any fic announcements here for a couple of months, and that's because everything I've written has been tied up in anonymous fic exchanges. merry_smutmas has had Teh Big Reveal, so, I can share that one with you now.
Sanguine, a Serpent Knotted Sable (direct link to my website is here) was written for fiendling, is Harry/Lucius and NC-17, and one of my longer pieces: just over 20,000 words. There's some kinda intense non-con in this one, including some kinks I've never written before, such as needleplay.
In a few days I will likely post a bit of meta on it: what the title's about, what I was aiming for, how I still lack perspective on its worth and other writerly insecurities. Like you do. |
